Operation & control of complex projects such as bridges and locks

A project in which Projectbureau HTPA actively participated is the Cluster Movable Constructions (CBC) and houses several projects related to ICT, IA and WTB within the area of the Western Netherlands North (WNN) with replacement and renewal of the Operation and operating system of the IJmuiden & Schellingwoude lock complex and additionally the Schellingwouderbrug.

Explanation:

In order to guarantee the reliability and availability of the lock complexes of IJmuiden and Schellingwoude in the North Sea Canal, Rijkswaterstaat has renewed the operating and control systems of the objects in IJmuiden and Schellingwoude and integrated them into new control stations. This means that all software systems have been completely replaced. The total 'migration', ie the relocation and renewal, of all systems took more than 5 years. The design of a new control station was an important part of the project. The operating software, layout of operating screens and the new operating location had to be designed in such a way that it is logical for the operators of both the existing complexes and the new sea lock IJmuiden.

Guidance for Systems Engineering within the civil engineering sector - Work Breakdown structure Operation Control Bridges and lock complexes a must

Systems Engineering (SE) has been used for years in industries where the development time and reliability of complex systems is very important, and is now used by ProRail and Rijkswaterstaat, who have drawn up guidelines for Systems Engineering in collaboration with Bouwend Nederland and ONRI. See https://www.leidraadse.nl Due to the influence of the market, tasks and roles are shifting, and due to the increasing size and complexity of projects, parties have to exchange and transfer more and more information with each other. Systems engineering (SE) is a way to effectively capture all this information, see the Work Breakdown Structure shown next to it as an example. As a result, the needs of the users can be controlled during the entire life cycle of the system. Importance of SE, your project meets all (user) requirements, realized within the budget and the available time, and of which it is traceable how it came about.
